One of the best things about grad school is that there are always interesting lectures and film screenings to attend. This afternoon I watched For Cod’s Sake, a documentary about cod fishing in the Baltic Sea.
Cod has been heavily overfished in the Baltic sea, and member countries of the European Union approach management of the depleted fishery in a variety of [good and not-so-good] ways. Click here to check out the film if you want to learn more about the environmental, social, and political implications of cod fishing. Yes, the topic is serious, but the documentary is funny, informative, and you can see where I work! Enjoy.
